What a Big Day - Blogged by JME
Our little June Bug went to her first doctor's appointment the other day. We were so proud of how good she was during the whole thing.
Even with some of the feeding difficulties she had this week, she gained a whopping 7 ounces. The doctor told us that was above where he hoped she would be and gave us permission to let her sleep six hours during the night between a feeding instead of four. That sure made mommy and daddy's sleep-deprived hearts quiver in anticipation of two extra hours of sleep we could have that night.
The nurse checked her height at this appointment and found that she had grown 3/4 inches. She is measuring tall on the growth chart.
Her little umbilical cord fell out while we were there. We were so glad. Those things can get in the way sometimes, especially with diapers.
This is the doctor that our baby sees. He is pretty awesome and took a lot of time with us discussing our concerns with feedings and goopy eyes and other things that come with having a new baby. There sure is a lot to learn when you are a new parent, and he showed incredible patience with us as we discussed everything. He also went over the developmental skills she should have at this age and June Bug is doing all of them. Such a good girl!
Now for the 'not-so-fun' part. She got another heel stick to do her PKU (Phenalketonuria) test. She was so amazing and only grunted and whimpered right at first, but then went right to sleep. No big cries. Such a brave bird.
Our nurse was great and got all of it with just the one heel stick. Very smooth!
Even after all that, we were able to get a little smile from her on the way home. She's our special girl!
So cute! What a doll.
ReplyDeleteI hope things are going well with the three of you! Nursing, sleeping, all of that. She looks great!
