Lions, and Tigers, and Bears . . . Oh, my!!! - Blogged by JME

The last Saturday in March this year, N8 and I decided to go to the zoo. It was the best time either of us have had there. Maybe it was the time of the year. The animals were active and so fun to watch! At first we were a little put out because the price went up to $9 per person and so cost us $18 to get in. However, we felt like this trip to the zoo was worth it.

We were in the zoo for only about 15 minutes when we got to see them feed the cougars. While the zoo keepers fed the large felines, they talked to us and gave us very interesting and informative facts about them.

We checked out the prairie dogs and some rabbits. We also saw an one eyed owl and some hawks that had been injured and had been adopted by the zoo.

One of the fun things we were able to see was the peacock. It was walking around with its feathers down. N8 told me that a peacock will actually open its feathers during mating season to impress its mate. That morning I used a new lotion I got from Bath and Body Works. It smells really good, and I told N8 that maybe the peacock would open its feathers if it could smell how good I smelled. I stooped down at the peacock's level and started wafting my scent toward the bird. Sure enough, and to our surprise, the peacock opened its feathers and strutted its stuff. So, if anyone out there wants a good smelling lotion that will impress a peacock, get Forever Sunshine from Bath and Body Works!

The elephants had a new addition to their little herd. A new baby girl elephant had been born. She was really sweet. She was busy eating and so didn't have a lot of time to show off for us but she was still fun to look at.

The outside wall at the giraffe house must have tasted really good. We sat and watched this giraffe lick the wall for about five minutes. When we decided it was time to move on, the giraffe was still licking the wall. Did you know that the giraffe's tongue is black? Now you know. . . and knowing is half the battle.

The monkey's were fun to see . . . .

Oh . . . wait, that's N8! Ha, ha . . . snort!!! Sorry, I just couldn't help myself.

We also got to see the turtles, and of course we could not leave the zoo without seeing N8's favorite animal in the zoo . . . the three toed sloth.

We didn't see any lions but did get to see some tigers.

As for the bears, we saw those too, but not at the zoo . . .

N8 and I went to Baby Animal Days on April 9th with Pookie, FireRyan, Pooh Bear, and Jo Jo. It was such a rainy day so they moved all the baby animals indoors. They had baby bears from Yellowstone that we got to see. They were so cute. I wanted to bring one of them home but N8 told me "no way!"

We got to hold a duckling and the baby lambs were so sweet. I got to hold a little black one that almost fell asleep in my arms. I wanted to bring that home too. I'll let you guess what N8's answer to that request was. Jo Jo had a great time and wanted to pet and love every little animal she saw.

I got to hold a sweet little bunny. FireRyan asked me if I would ever taste one if I had a chance. Call me crazy, but, yup . . . I bet I would.
