This week I celebrate the life of a very special person who is my best friend. I've thought a lot about him as his birthday's approached and thought about many of the great things I love about him. There are so many things and I couldn't include everything, but I did want to share some of the things that make N8 so amazing:
10 - N8 always thinks of funny things to say or do to make me laugh. He is sort of a goof. Whenever he makes me eggs for breakfast, he always asks, "How would you like your eggs, fertilized or unfertilized?" He is quick and witty and can come up with all sorts of things that leave you shaking your head in wonder.
9 - N8 has amazing voice talents. I'm not talking about singing, which is something he does well, but he also is able to do voice impressions. Among the many are voices from the Simpson's - Patty and Selma, Dr. Hibert, Millhouse, and Ralph Wigham. He can also do a great impression of Mickey Mouse and one that always makes me laugh is Swedish Chef, "No, no, no, du bist gobbla gobbla." He can sound just like James Stewart when he quotes George Bailey (It's a Wonderful Life) or Willy Krueger (Mr. Krueger's Christmas). He also has a very good memory and has "Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves" memorized. He is my own, free, personal entertainment and I absolutely love it.
8 - N8 has a huge heart for animals. He loves dogs and they love him. For a while he wanted to be a veterinarian technician. One of his favorite animals is a three-toed sloth. We always make sure, when we are at the zoo, to stop and see the three-toed sloth there. He even gets into three-toed sloth fights with me, which always ends in us both laughing.
7 - N8 is my own personal heater. His body adjusts so quickly to any climate, which is an advantage to me since no matter the temperature, I'm usually cold. It is like warm, homemade, chicken soup when N8 holds me and warms me up when I've got the goosebumps.
6 - N8 has a great taste in music. It is one of his passions. He plays the bass and used to be in a band in high school. Now, while he is in Germany, he is teaching himself how to play the guitar and is learning very quickly. I love to listen to him when he plays the songs he has learned. There is always good music when N8 is around.
5 - N8 is a very good listener. He also probably has the most patience of anyone I know, especially when it comes to dealing with his sometimes-difficult and impatient wife. He is extremely loving and caring with any problem I present. He always has good advice and words of wisdom to share with me whenever I need counsel or advise. He has been so supportive to me while in Germany in ways that I never thought would be possible. I know that no matter what, he is there for me.
4 - N8 is very easy-going. He laughs things off most of the time, and even if he is very angry, he has never raised his voice. He always tells me that "The only time you should yell in the house is when there is a fire." He lives by that and it definitely encourages the spirit of love in our home.
3 - N8 knows everything about useless trivia. He can tell you anything about almost any movie ever made or any useless fact you could think to ask about. If only I could get him on one of those game shows on TV and we would be millionaires. He is the pro at the game "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon." Just try to stump him. I dare you!
2 - N8 is a laugher. He will laugh at anything he can find to laugh about. His laugh is loud and hearty and is quite contagious. N8 never makes a big deal about things that don't matter. He always tells me how cute I am when I mess up on something and helps me laugh it off.
1 - N8 is my very best friend. He is someone I can trust to tell anything to. He has been with me during some of the toughest things I've ever had to face in my life. Without him, I would be a very different person. He brings out the best in me. He is also a huge example to me. Life can deal out a lot of crap, and I've seen him come out on top.
